Door
Doors
The front door is an integral part of the design of the building’s envelope. The door is integrated into one of the facades, not necessarily on the front facing the street. The front door can blend into or stand out from the frontal material, when it itself can be transparent or opaque. The human scale relative to the door can change by increasing its size and height. The door is the first encounter between the outside and the inside, sometimes visible to the viewer and sometimes hidden.
Its materiality varies from house to house, integrating a coherent relationship to the wall of the interior and simultaneously to the exterior wall of the building. The interior door constitutes a transition between space and space, from public to private, detailing the details when a wide range of different mechanisms enable it to integrate into the architectural elements adjacent to it.
